Iguazu Falls is amazing, and if you're visiting another area close-ish to it, then I say go. To me though, it wasn't enough of a destination to be its own trip. It's not cheap, and it's not as cool as going to Victoria Falls. But if you're going to Buenos Aires or Rio or something near it, then you may as well visit. Or if you're really, really into waterfalls. You can stay on the Argentinian side in the city of Cataratas de Iguazu or the Brazilian side in the city of Foz do Iguaçu. The Brazilian side's city is much larger, and there are more things to do. But the falls are actually on the Argentinian side. We saw enough of the falls with one day from the Argentinian side and then didn't bother to even go on the Brazilian side. We flew into the airport on the Argentinian side from Buenos Aires because the flights weren't very expensive within the same country. We saw the falls for one day from the Argentinian side (which I felt like was enough time to see everything we wanted to see). Then we took a taxi from the Argentinian side to the Brazilian side. You can also take a bus, but the bus was an hour late and we met another couple that was willing to split a taxi. Sometimes, the bus just drops you at the border and you have to wait another couple of hours to get another bus from the border into the city. Here is a video we took of Devil’s Throat on the Argentinian side. It's the coolest area, so you don't want to miss it (although there are so many people shoving and trying to get selfies that it can be frustrating). From the Brazilian side, you can walk across the border into del Este, Paraguay for a day to see the bustling city. They are known for their cheap goods and electronics, so you see a lot of Brazilians crossing the border to buy things to resell in Brazil. Technically you need a visa if you are American, but they do not stamp your passport or look at it at all if you just walk across like you know what you're doing. This is illegal though, so be very careful, and you risk getting caught and fined or imprisoned.
