Bolivian Salt Flats: 3 Day Tour

If you travel through South America and skip this area, you are missing out!  I’m in love with Bolivia – see my previous blog post here about how interesting La Paz is, but in addition to all of that, the country is gorgeous.  You seriously need to look at our photos here to see for yourself because I can’t describe it in words.

You have the salt flats which is just miles and miles of salt, but there is so much more to the “salt flats” tour – there are flamingos, lagoons, sunsets, rock formations, llamas, geysers, and more.

We used Red Planet Expeditions for a 3 day tour.  It was $210 which includes food and accommodations, but it does not include about $30 in park entrance fees.  This company is on the more expensive side, but I thought they were one of the best companies that we used, and I would highly recommend them.  Check out their website for a complete itinerary.

We started from Uyuni, Bolivia (we took an overnight bus from La Paz), and you have the option to end back in Uyuni or to end in San Pedro de Atacama, Chile.  We chose to end in Chile since we are traveling south.

Make sure to check out our photos here, and here are some of our videos from the tour:
