Zion is breathtaking. Just look at this view! You definitely need to visit Bryce Canyon as well. We drove to Byrce Canyon National Park from Moab, UT (about 5 hours away), so we didn't have an entire day there. However, that was just fine because it was insanely windy and snowing, so we didn't spend more than a couple of hours there and most of that was in the warm truck! I'm sure that I would have had a very different experience there had the weather been different, so I can't really knock it. I'm sure there are some super cool trails, but I didn't want to hike them in the snow. Instead, we continued on to our Airbnb in Cedar City, UT and snuggled / watched a movie in our king sized bed (going to need one of those or bigger when I grow up). The next day though, we went to Zion National Park (about an hour from Cedar City), and the weather was beautiful. Sunny all day and warm enough while we were hiking. You can't drive through the park without a permit, so we parked at the entrance and took a shuttle to the Zion Lodge. We hiked the Emerald Pools Trail to the Grotto and then continued on to Angels Landing. Unfortunately, Colin's leg was hurting after we had hiked the first half of the day (he's been having a lot of pain all down his leg from a pulled glute muscle or an injured nerve... we aren't sure, but it definitely isn't going well), so he couldn't come with me to the very top of Angels Landing. Angels Landing: To hike this trail, you definitely CANNOT be afraid of heights. And if you can go during a weekday instead of on a weekend, DO IT. I think the most dangerous part of the trail on a beautiful Saturday afternoon is that you have a steady stream of people coming down the trail and a steady stream of people trying to go up the trail, and there is only really enough room for a one way stream of traffic. But they don't have too many people die, so I guess it's fine. It was also insanely windy up there (see video here). I was often worried I'd blow off (even though I've already gained weight on the trip). I really didn't take very many pics (none on the way up or down and few at the top) because I was pretty nervous, so you should google it to see what the trail looks like. Overall, glad I did it, but was very nervous the entire way and wish Colin had come so I wasn't doing it alone :)
